TEA ROOM RUN Brockville to Almonte
Real LIFE Magazine Living in Eastern Ontario March 2006
by Sue Deschene (Brockville Recorder & Times)

Victor Dupuis & Marcel Allard have given new meaning to the term "take-out".  At their Village Antiques & Tea Room~Bed & Breakfast in Williamsburg, not only can you enjoy a sumptuous dinner, but you can also buy the china it's served on.  Want any of the decorations in the room?  Chances are you can buy those, too.  Victor and Marcel have created an ingenious business blend, decorating their dining room and bed and breakfast with the same exquisite antiques they have for sale.

Victor and Marcel first opened their business in 1989, starting out with antiques and then expanding into a tea room, and then a bed and breakfast.  Lunch and afternoon tea were a part of the daily schedule for many years, but two years ago, they decided to streamline their day, offering fine dining only in the evenings.

Where the tea room remains true to its name is in the extensive list of teas offered with over 20 different varieties.  The one that caught my eye was the ice-wine tea, which has a mellow, slightly sweet flavour.  I also enjoyed a warm Mediterranean salad, with Marcel's mouth-watering pork tenderloin medallions served with a cranberry demi-glace.  The other distinctive menu favourites include  Atlantic salmon filet, ostrich steak and rabbit fricassee.  In addition to their teas, they pride themselves on a generous wine list that includes Old and New World wines.

The tea room is open Wednesday through Sunday from 4:30 pm to closing;  the last table is seated at 8 pm.  Keep in mind that if you want to enjoy an evening meal there, you should make reservations in advance.  To reach the Village Antiques & Tea Room, take the 401 east to Exit No. 750, then head north on County Road 31.  (Or, for a more scenic route, take Highway 2 east, then turn north onto County Road 31.) That takes you into Williamsburg;  you'll see the tea room on your left.
